Do you have a law enforcement academy?
Yes. We have two academy programs. We have the 480-hour APOSTC certification curriculum along with an added 160 hours of specialized deputy sheriff’s curriculum for deputy sheriffs. We also have an academy for the 480-hour APOSTC certification curriculum that is for reserve/auxiliary officers.

Can anyone attend your full-time academy?
No. Only those who have been hired full-time as a deputy sheriff may attend.

Can anyone attend your reserve academy?
No. Only those individuals who serve as auxiliary or reserve officers for a law enforcement agency may attend.

Do you have any continuing education classes coming up?
Yes. We offer a variety of classes, approved for CEU’s, throughout the year. You may contact the academy for a schedule of these classes.

How many CEU’s are law enforcement officers required to have a year?
According to state law 12. Re-certifications and duplicates of courses do not count.

Are you open to the public?
Yes, most Saturdays. It is requested that you call on Friday to find out if the range is open on Saturday.

Do you teach firearms to civilians?
Yes. Not formal classes, but assistance is offered on public firearms days.

What times are you open for the Public?
8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. on Saturdays (when available)

What are the requirements for using the range?
Pistols – Must have a pistol permit and show valid identification. Rifles – Meet age requirements.

What is the age limit?
13 years old and accompanied by at least a parent or legal guardian

What types of weapons can and cannot be fired at the range?
1. Modern pistols and rifles can be fired. 2. NO Black Powder guns 3. No Shotguns 4. No fully-automatic weapons

Can anyone go through the academy?
No. Sworn law enforcement sponsored by an agency only.

Do you teach self-defense classes?
Yes, to women when requested by groups. Some weapons/self-defense classes.

At what distances can I shoot at the range?
7, 15, 25 yards – pistol 100 yards – rifle
